Information & Media Studies Undergraduate Academic Internships

Length: Minimum of 140 placement hours over 4 month term in Fall or Winter. A number of options available for start and end dates in spring/summer sessions.
Time of Year: Fall (September - December), Winter (January - April), Summer (May - June, June - July. May - July, July - August, May - August)
Paid or unpaid: Paid and unpaid available. Students receive academic credit.
Location: Unrestricted.
Programs: 3rd or 4th year of a Major or Honours Specialization within the Faculty of Information & Media Studies.
Commitment: Between 12 and 35 hours per week, depending on placement arrangements

Master of Library and Information Science Co-op

The MLIS Co-op program, which began in 1979, formally integrates a student's academic study with paid work experience. Students are exposed to the professional environment, and have the opportunity to use and develop newly acquired skills, and gain practical experience which will contribute to their training as professionals.

Length: 4 - 8 months
Paid or unpaid: Paid
Commitment: Full-time

Master of Media in Journalism and Communication Internship

This real-world phase of the program will give students the opportunity to gain sustained practical experience applying what they have learned in a journalistic or communication setting. While on the placement, there will be an instructor guiding the students, and helping them reflect on their professional experience. As instruction happens online, student placements could be anywhere in Canada or indeed, the world. 

Length: 10 weeks (flexible)
